Creed 2 featurette: Watch brand new Creed II featurette ALL ABOUT Viktor Drago

The next instalment in the Rocky franchise is heading to cinemas soon.

Ahead of its imminent release, Warner Bros has released a featurette for Creed 2 titled Art Imitates Life.

The featurette shows both clips from the film, but also behind the scenes snippets of Viktor Drago boxer-turned-actor Florian Munteanu.

Filmed partly in black and white, the featurette is both a gritty and realistic look at what it takes to become a boxer at the level of the fictional Drago and Adonis Creed (Michael B Jordan).

The man behind the gloves is a real-life Romanian boxer, whose Instagram feed is enough to make even the most swole gym-goer feel inadequate.

He was raised in Germany and attended the University of Munich to study studied sports, media, and event management.

The man is six feet four inches tall, weigh 245 lbs.

He has a reach of 79 inches and at only 28 years old has also done work as a fitness model in addition to his own heavyweight boxing career.

His family is full of sports enthusiasts and Munteanu's own father is (perhaps not surprisingly) an avid boxer.

The featurette gives us a brief impression of Munteanu's impressive physical regime, adding further anticipation for the upcoming movie.

In Creed 2, he plays Drago, the son of Rocky-franchise villain Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren).

Drago senior killed Creed's father, Apollo, in 1985 sequel Rocky IV.

The trailer of Creed 2 shows the boxing champion facing a rival “with ties to his family's past.”

The official plot synopsis reads: "Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed.

"Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life.

"Facing an opponent with ties to his family's past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring.

"Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what is worth fighting for, and discover that nothing is more important than family."

Sylvester Stallone is reprising his role as Rocky once again, with Tessa Thompson returning to the role of Bianca Porter, a singer and Adonis' girlfriend and now the mother of his child.

Dolph Lundgren also returns to the franchise as the villainous Ivan Drago, Russia's former prize champion boxer, who had, years earlier killed Apollo Creed (Adonis' father) but was later defeated by Rocky.

Phylicia Rashad plays Mary Anne Creed, Apollo's widow and Adonis' stepmother, who takes in Adonis as a child following the death of Adonis' biological mother.

Brigitte Nielsen plays Ludmila Drago, Ivan's wife and Viktor's mother.

In addition, Milo Ventimiglia is returning to the franchise taking up his role of Robert Balboa Jr, Rocky's son, from 2006's well-received Rocky Balboa.

  • Notre Dame de Paris returns to London after 18 years: Can it triumph this time?

Notre Dame de Paris returns to London after 18 years: Can it triumph this time?

London run in 2000, since 1998 this show has played to over 13 million people and been translated into nine languages. They love it from South Korea to Kazhakstan and now the creators are determined to make a triumphant return to the West End as part of the current world tour. In a bold move, the show will play in the original French, with English surtitles. One of the harshest criticisms over here was the use of a backing track rather than a live band. This is not unusual in France but horrified British purists. This time there will be a live string orchestra accompanying the prerecorded score. Will it work? The show's creator says he has faced doubts and derision from the show's very inception.

Already an established star across France and Italy when he created the show, Richard Cocciante admits he has never fit any mould, nor been accepted by any mainstream.

He told Express Online: "I spent much of my career a little apart from what you must do... And now this is the same. I was told it would be a disaster for my career. Crazy. But sometimes crazy is good and you have to go with your heart. It was an adventure.

Cocciante admits: "It was such a hit it was almost a problem for the show... How do we do the show to match that?"

The pair decided to create something unique: "I didn't want to use American culture in musicals. I wanted to come back to my culture and Italian opera. I wanted to use the microphones like pop and rock singers. In fact, in the show we prefer Rock singers over musical theatre. That is what keeps it modern and popular.

"We didn't call it a musical at first we called it a 'musical spectacle.' It is like you are at a rock concert. We mix breakdancers and acrobats."

The producers are adamant London critics and audiences should not compare this monolithic French megashow with anything currently in the West End: "They are like apples and oranges."

Can the show achieve the same effect with London audiences gorged on the finest the West End and the world can offer, especially when the show is sung in French?

Next week will reveal whether the bells are pealing out with joy for the cast and crew, or clanging the chimes of doom.

See today's front and back pages, download the newspaper, order back issues and use the historic Daily Express newspaper archive.

Mad Box console: New PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch rival looks like THIS

consoles being cooked up by Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo.

This will come in the form of a new generation of machines in the PS5 and Xbox Two, as well as a predicted refresh for the Nintendo Switch.

But another developer is throwing their hat into the ring to provide even more choice.

Slightly Mad Studios recently announced they are exploring plans to release a new console in the future.

And we’ve been getting new images of what the new PS4, Xbox One and Switch rival could look like.

Having shared various prototypes and fan suggestions, it appears Slight Mad Studios have landed on a pretty impressive one.

It appears that the Mad Box Console will include RGB lighting, as well as an LCD front, which will inform the players what game they are currently playing.

An example of this in action can be found below and will no doubt prove very impressive upon release.

However, while the exciting design will please gamers ready for something new, it doesn’t look like the Mad Box is being released anytime soon.

The plan, for now, is to see the new Mad Box launch in three years and will be available to buy worldwide.

And according to SMS CEO Ian Bell, the new console will support virtual reality and boast some competitive specs when it hits the market.

Launching in 2022 would certainly provide some time for VR tech to move on and even see a reduction in price.

“All that we have approached are discussing standard partial ownership investment deals...

“Prices will drop with ship quantity, but we’re not planning on taking as large a cut as other console owners to enable us to cut prices massively.

“We fully expect to be matching the best of the rest early in the lifecycle though.”

Bell added: “We think the industry is a little too much of a monopoly or a micro oligopoly.

“We think competition is healthy and we have the required hardware contacts to be able to bring something epic to fruition based on our designs.”

When it comes to the final design, Bell has warned that it could undergo further alterations if deemed necessary

“The public have spoken and we've listened,” a recent Tweet from Bell reads.

“This is the design we're going with. It might be slightly amended over time... Thanks all for your responses which have helped to guide us.”

It appears the look of the new console has built a following around the ambitious new project, which is bound to face plenty of competition from the current hardware leaders.

While neither Sony or Microsoft have announced release dates for the PS5 or Xbox Two, most analysts believe they will have hit shelves by 2022.

See today's front and back pages, download the newspaper, order back issues and use the historic Daily Express newspaper archive.

PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch shock new console rival launching 2019

    st months away from release.

That’s the latest news from a project that has been crowd-funded and now entering an important phase in 2019.

While many gamers are hoping for news about the PS5, Xbox Two and an upgraded Nintendo Switch, something else is also hitting the market.

As some will have already heard, a very well-known name is getting back into the console business.

This would be the resurrected Atari brand, which has a confirmed console heading for release in 2019.

Having raised million during a crowd-funding campaign, fans are now looking to see the final product launch in 2019.

The Atari VCS - originally named the Ataribox - was rebranded during 2018 and has been seeing updates posted on its official Indiegogo page.

The final post for 2018 covered news related to the company’s plans for the future, as well as a warning about those backers hoping to nab a console in 2019.

“There are still some backers that have not completed their BackerKit surveys,” the Atari message reads.

“If you haven't done so because of a missing Backerkit email, please reach out directly to support@backerkit.com with your Indiegogo order number(s) and other information.

“If you have just ignored the survey, you may end up as your own worst enemy when we start shipping Atari VCS hardware in 2019, and your address or other information is not yet confirmed.”

The official site states that the Atari CVS should be shipping in July 2019, making it the next major rival to the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

For those that don’t know what the Atari VCS is, it’s a new console from the retro giants which will ship with 100+ classic Atari games pre-loaded.

But it’s aiming to be a lot more than just another Classic Mini console.

According to the official gaming blurb, Atari VCS will also support new games, as well as multiplayer and internet store access.

New and exclusive games will be announced this year which will be available to download or stream, including reimagined classic titles from Atari and other developers.

Atari has also promised that the VCS will have access to the Linux Sandbox, allow for more storage via cloud or USB, run multiple operating systems at once, as well as load Homebrew games.

We also know that Atari is going for a sleek new design for their gaming machine, with plenty of pictures available to view.

However, the Atari team has also warned that these prototypes may end up looking different from the final design. This is due to changes being made as the team put together the first unit to be released to backers.

“There’s a lot of work going on “under the hood” as our engineers refine the circuit boards and hardware components inside the VCS, along with the cooling and power systems.

“These elements have an impact on how the components will go together and this, of course, means that the final product will be slightly evolved from the prototypes and appearance models that have been featured in the Indiegogo campaign, social media and the press in 2017 and 2018.

“All of this will be for the betterment of the final Atari VCS that customers receive next year.

“Things that may end up being subtly and/or dramatically impacted on the finished device include the overall unit dimensions, placements of input and output ports and connections, system assembly, venting, weight, and cosmetic surfaces.”

Hopes are high that the Atari VCS will start to hit shelves in 2019, with the team commenting on the 2019 holiday season as being a high point for their project.

And if the new gaming machine from the legendary company business does launch this year, it could share the news cycle with its next rivals - the PS5 and Xbox Two.

Microsoft and Sony have said little about their planned release date for their new gaming machines, although it’s very unlikely that they would be announced for launch in 2019.

See today's front and back pages, download the newspaper, order back issues and use the historic Daily Express newspaper archive.
