'Last Man Standing' star Tim Allen on the difficulty of trying not to offend people: ‘It’s like dancing on the thinnest of ice'

Fox Television Group CEO and Chairman, Gary Newman spills details on the new season of Tim Allen's "Last Man Standing," telling reporters the comedy series will return with Allen's character expressing some conservative views.

“You don’t know what you’re going to say to offend people," the 65-year-old actor said during a PaleyFest panel for "Last Man Standing" in Beverly Hills, Calif. Thursday.

He continued: "It is really like dancing on the thinnest ice. I’ve been in the comedy world for 30 years as a comic and there’s nothing more dangerous right now for all of the comics I know, what we can and cannot say."

Allen, who is gearing up for the Season 7 premiere of "Last Man Standing," went on to say that all comedians are "basically anarchists."

"I don’t like being told what I can and cannot say and who’s telling me what I can’t do," he admits, adding that on the "Last Man Standing" series, he brings "a little of that" to the writer's room.

"I really appreciate where these guys go because our writers are all over the map and with writing just the stuff you do in your life," he notes.

“Politically I’m kind of an anarchist if you see my stand-up. I’m for responsible government that actually does what we pay them to do,” Allen said. “I’ve worked different jobs and I’ve had a colorful past and I pay a lot in taxes. I wish we got more for our money. Whatever political party is for more responsible use of our money — that’s all I meant.”

Despite never officially endorsing Donald Trump, many of Allen’s detractors label him as a staunch supporter. However, the star also clarified his more nuanced view of politics with regard to the president.

“You know … it’s a very loaded question. I’ve met [Trump] at [a] charity event years ago, and that certainly doesn’t fit with the man who tweets. I’ve met a lot of people in private whose public persona is a bit off. My perception is 'let’s see what he gets done.' Let’s stop banging on the pilot’s door and trying to pull the guy out of his seat while he’s still flying. You might not like how he’s flying the plane but let’s let him land it,” Allen told the outlet.

“Do I like him or agree with him? … I don’t know. Somebody got this NAFTA thing done. How did that happen? It’s like a slight of hand with this dude. There’s this smoke and smelly food but over here he just fixed a pothole.”

"Last Man Standing" premieres Sept. 28 on Fox.

Avengers 4 deaths: THIS character confirmed alive – Is she part of new reshoots with THOR?

    Avengers 4.

So many heroes died and fans know that at least some of them need to return because they have their own movies lining up.

But there was also some key characters absent from Avengers 3, with some of their fates left unaswered.

Hawkeye is obviously the most prominent Avengers who expected to make a dramatic return in the sequel but a hugely popular new character was on board that Asgardian ship when Thanos attacked. Is she alive and is she part of major new scenes with Thor and even maybe Loki?

Joe Russo added: “Several Asgardians have escaped. I have gone on record saying Valkyrie has escaped with some of the Asgardians.”

Thompson was spotted filming scenes last year at Durham Cathedral with a Rocket Raccoon stand-in and Chris Hemsworth. Cate Blanchett had also been rumoured to be on that set.

This ties in with speculation that Thor may try to open a portal to Hel and make contact with his father, Odin, as well as Loki and Hela.

Durham Catheral has been used before for scenes set on Asgard as well as Thor's disturbing vision from Age of Ultron.

If Thompson flew back with Hemsworth to Atlanta, those scenes shot last year might now be in the process of being expanded.

So much attention has been focussed on theories about time travel or alternate dimensions but Avegers 4 will definitely include more than one major plotline.

Iron Man, Captain America, Ant-Man and Loki have all been spotted in what appears to be a flashback or time travel scene from Avengers 1.

But what about Thor? Coudl he be seeking answers to teh Gauntlet from his father in Hel, or teh help of Hela or even to bring his brother Loki back from death? There are even strong arguments that Loki intended Thanos to kill him so that he could get to Hel.

With Thompson's Valkyrie (kaaka Brunnhilde) potentially involved it raises the tatalising possibility of the armies of dead heroes of Asgard, including all her fallen fellow valkuries, riding back into glorious battle one last time.

See today's front and back pages, download the newspaper, order back issues and use the historic Daily Express newspaper archive.

Paul Simon wraps up farewell tour back home

ight at a park in Queens, a bicycle ride across the borough from where he grew up.

The 76-year-old singer picked Flushing Meadows Corona Park to say goodbye, an outdoor show on the first night of autumn. The setlist at recent stops has ranged from his first 1960s hit with ex-partner Art Garfunkel, "The Sound of Silence," to selections from a disc released weeks ago.

Simon isn't retiring, and hasn't ruled out occasional future performances. But he's said this is his last time out on the road, and he isn't alone among his peers; Elton John and Kiss are also doing goodbye swings.

A staple of the folk-rock scene with Garfunkel, Simon explored music from around the world as a solo artist, most notably "Graceland" and its African influences. His recent work has been his most musically challenging, and in his new disc he revisits overlooked songs from the past four decades. He's a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member for both stages of his career.

An often dour performer, Simon has been animated and talkative during the final shows. He seems eager for the freedom that awaits him, said Robert Hilburn, who wrote the biography "Paul Simon: A Life" that was released this spring.

"The thing that strikes me is that he's been happy, relieved," Hilburn said. "There's a burden off of him."

During an earlier show in Portland, Oregon, Simon playfully "penalized" himself for flubbing the lyrics to one song by singing an old Simon & Garfunkel hit he confessed to hating: "The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)."

Justin Theroux breaks silence on 'painless' Jennifer Aniston breakup for the first time

All market data delayed 20 minutes.

Fox411: Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux announced that they've separated after less than three years of marriage.

Justin Theroux has opened for the first time about his famous split from ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston, seven months after their breakup.

“The good news is that was probably the most — I’m choosing my words really carefully — it was kind of the most gentle separation, in that there was no animosity,” he told the Times. “In a weird way, just sort of navigating the inevitable perception of it is the exhausting part.”

Sharing a little bit about what may have created the distance that resulted in the break of the couple's three-year marriage, “These are actually in reality small events that take place. But everything can feel like 10 on the Richter scale if you make the headline big enough and salacious enough.”

In the interview, Aniston clarified that while her split from her ex was hard, she was not mourning the relationship.

"It’s pretty crazy. The misconceptions are ‘Jen can’t keep a man,’ and ‘Jen refuses to have a baby because she’s selfish and committed to her career,'” she said. “Or that I’m sad and heartbroken. First, with all due respect, I’m not heartbroken. And second, those are reckless assumptions. No one knows what’s going on behind closed doors. No one considers how sensitive that might be for my partner and me. They don’t know what I’ve been through medically or emotionally.”

Similar to Aniston's feelings about the split, Theroux said that their breakup didn't leave him devastated.

“Neither one of us is dead, neither one of us is looking to throw hatchets at each other," he clarified. "It’s more like, it’s amicable. It’s boring, but, you know, we respected each other enough that it was as painless as it could be.”

He continued, “It was heartbreaking only in the sense that the friendship would not be the same, as far as just the day to day. But the friendship is shifting and changing, you know, so that part is something that we’re both very proud of.”

When Theroux was asked about his post-split dating life, the actor asked, “Is this the part where I coyly raise an eyebrow and not answer the question?”

At the time of the former couple's split, the actors released a joint statement that read, “In an effort to reduce any further speculation, we have decided to announce our separation. This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year. We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship.”

"She wishes the best for Justin," the insider said. "They had some wonderful times together but are better off going in separate directions."

This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed. ©2018 FOX News Network, LLC.
